please, wear a lot of hats!

please, wear a lot of hats!

It started a bit silly, actually. One day, you are just some student goofing around, trying to makes sense of your place in a strange new area. The curiosity overwhelms you. The excitement of facing many possibilities. The grand size of the library. You were eager to dive down head first into anything. With holiday looming over, you are assigned an interview.

You barely know the person you are interviewing. He is apparently a famous writer. Known to the scene around. You are a new guy, you haven’t read that many. Yet, boy, what a mouth you have. He finds you witty enough. You were there to photograph him, covering your colleague who dibbed out early for holiday. He and you talked. You said something along the lines of, “I aspire to work in the creative industry.” Then he asked you to layout his book.

Then, books. You were invited to his many happenings. You visited his office. You were scolded for being late to a meeting. The scolding you took became a turning point. You worked and worked.

A different client then, a different client now.

You were out of money. You took a barista job. It was hell, you only held out for a month.

Then, you were out of college. You held your bachelor’s degree and some experiences in your hand. What then?

You dug out some potentials. You were still eager to learn. You learned things you were despised before for the sake of survival. You created things after things. You were (and are) still pining for your dream labor.

A different city then, a different city now.

Along the way, you found a Walt Whitman line. Oh, what a line. A grandiose one. You stick yourself to it, finding yourself still amused by how the world works. You dug out some more.

You got yourself multiple hats now. You were no longer dream of labor, you said. You are still pining for the one you want for a very long time. You are trying to find the way now that you lost among many different hats you wear.

You are still looking. The roads ahead are not particularly safe. Please, wear a lot of hats!
