a fitting end: ac revelations review

Assassin’s Creed Revelations was a pretty solid way to wrap up Altair and Ezio’s stories. Especially for the Altair, the story feels like a closure more than anything else. It further expounded why Altair did what he did and showcased a ripe character development. While for Ezio, the story parallel to ponder why he did what he did. Ezio started to don his cowl out of revenge, and Revelations shows what’s next for Ezio 20 years or so later. It’s a fitting end for Altair stories, but I think it’s also a befitting start for Ezio: to live beyond the creed. Sets in the midst of political dispute of Ottoman, the story doesn’t give much expansion to the lore except for the characters development. And that’s for me is a good writing.

The gameplay wasn’t anything groundbreaking, but it was definitely a nice step up from the previous games in the Desmond Miles series.

The Guild system was a cool addition. It gave you a bit more to manage and upgrade, which added a layer of strategy to the game. It was fun to see your guilds grow and become more powerful. Nurturing master assassin after master assassin and see them take over cities from Templar’s control.

I did miss was the mystery of the older Assassin’s Creed games. In recent games, they seemed a bit too eager to explain everything. Isu as supposedly ancient civilization lost it’s mystery. The whole thing become a what-if Area51 accessories is released to the public. It felt like they were trying to tie up every loose end, which took away some of the mystery and intrigue. I think it’s high-key for corporate to know that story can have an open-ending, instead of milking the lore until it left nothing but a plot there and a hole here.

Assassin’s Creed Revelations was a fitting conclusion to the Ezio saga. It had a great story, fun gameplay, and a cool guild system. Although it’s been years, I still think it’s a great game that fans of the series should check out.
